Q1 underperforms compared to Q1 2025 business license issuance in Hollis

Business license issued in Hollis during the first quarter of 2026 decreased by 80 percent from the same quarter the previous year, according to Alaska’s Department of Commerce.

There was one license issued in total in Hollis during the quarter.

More than 99% of Alaska’s businesses are considered small, with more than 52% of Alaska’s employees working for a small business, according to the U.S Small Business Administration.

A study by Civic Economics found $100 spent at a locally-owned business, puts $68 back into the local economy while the total is just $43 for non-local businesses.
