Halibut Cove has 1 less business license issued in Q1 from previous years Q1

Business license issued in Halibut Cove during the first quarter of 2026 decreased by 50 percent from the same quarter the previous year, according to Alaska’s Department of Commerce.

There was one license issued in total in Halibut Cove during the quarter.

More than 99% of Alaska’s businesses are considered small, with more than 52% of Alaska’s employees working for a small business, according to the U.S Small Business Administration.

A study by Civic Economics found $100 spent at a locally-owned business, puts $68 back into the local economy while the total is just $43 for non-local businesses.
