Did Everett High School students succeed or flounder in their 2023-24 math tests?

Of the 523 students of Everett High School who took part in the math portion of the MCAS in the 2023-24 school year, 101 met the testing standard (19.3%), while 15 exceeded expectations (2.9%), according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The students' overall success rate in the subject dropped by 2% in the 2023-24 school year from the previous school year.

Everett Public Schools District, which Everett High School is part of, reached an average proficiency rate of 19.6% in math during the 2023-24 school year.

Meanwhile, 38% of Everett High School students hit the ELA benchmarks, and 26.4% were considered proficient in science.

At the time, 464,292 students took the math test in Massachusetts, with 195,185 students passing (42%) — unchanged from the year before.

Massachusetts spends more money on K-12 education per pupil than most other states, ranking fifth in the nation, according to a 2025 report. The state allocates over $24,000 per pupil, totaling $22.5 billion annually.
