Elkhorn Area Middle School welcomed 676 students in their classes in 2023-24 school year

Elkhorn Area Middle School welcomed 676 students in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

That’s 4.1% lower than the previous school year when the school welcomed 705 students.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 53.4% of them were boys, and 46.6% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, making up 81.4% of the Elkhorn Area Middle School's total enrollment.

The school is located in Elkhorn Area School District with a central office in Elkhorn.

In total, there were 814,002 students enrolled in Wisconsin in the 2023-24 school year.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
