Guthrie's Ace Hardware experts know what to throw on the grill this summer

Published 08/30/23

The end of summer is the perfect time to turn up the heat on your grill and try something new.

Ace Hardware’s grill expert Chef Jason Morse has crafted several recipes that will end your summer on a high note. Chef Jason has worked with Ace Hardware for nearly a decade, giving expert grilling tips and recommending exquisite recipes for all customers to try.

Cole Guthrie, owner of Guthrie's Ace Hardware, 110 Rivergate Parkway, Goodlettsville, TN, 37072 detailed what recipes from grilling expert Chef Jason you should cook during both the summer and fall seasons.

Big Green Egg Wok Fried Rice
The Big Green Egg can switch from a charcoal-fueled grill to a wok in a flash. First, throw your veggies like peppers and onions into the hot wok, add 2 lbs. of flank steak, and then thoroughly season it all with a BBQ rub. After adding two cups of white rice and your BBQ sauce, you’ll have a fried rice dish that everyone will enjoy.
“The wok being fried over charcoal in this recipe is what gives the rice its irresistible taste,” Guthrie said. “If you like restaurant style fried rice, or something even tastier, preparing it on the Big Green Egg is the best way to do it. It does handle any amount of veggies, meat, and rice you plan on making that will be the envy of your friends and family.”

Blackstone Steak Fajitas
These fajitas get an extra kick of flavor by being seared in bacon grease on a Blackstone griddle. They’re topped with peppers, onion, and seasoning cooked on the griddle for a filling fajita that’ll be a hit at the dinner table.
“Cooking fajitas on a griddle instead of a grill is very enjoyable, because you won’t need to worry about tiny pieces of meat falling through the grates,“ Guthrie said. ”It also gives the outside of the meat a crispy texture, while the inside stays juicy. A Blackstone griddle has enough real estate to comfortably fit anything you want on your fajitas, no matter how many toppings you plan to use.”

Ooni 90 Second Pizza
Pizza night gets easier with an Ooni grill. It can cook a personal pizza in 90 seconds, giving you more time to enjoy your company or figure out what other types of pizza you want to make. All you have to do is make your classic sauce, cheese, and meat pizza, throw it in the Ooni, rotate it halfway through, and then enjoy.
“Can anything beat a homemade pizza that is cooked in 90 seconds?” Guthrie said. “Ooni ovens get you restaurant quality pizzas quicker than it takes to prepare a frozen pizza in the oven. For taste, convenience, and quality, it can't be beat.”

Traeger Reverse Heat Tri Tips
Tri tips might sound easy to cook, but it takes skill and good equipment to keep a tri tip tender and juicy. A Traeger grill takes the skill out of the equation and helps ensure a perfect grill every time. All you need to do is lightly oil and rub down your steak and place it on your Traeger grill once it reaches 190 degrees. Flip it once and then crank up the temperature to 500 degrees to get it just the right crispiness without sacrificing any taste or tenderness.
“Traeger goods are an ideal choice when cooking tri tips. Not only are they first-class grills, but their bluetooth thermometers ensure you get perfectly cooked meat every time,” Guthrie said. “You completely remove the risk of over or under cooking your meat. Once it’s off the grill, you can use all of Traeger's different sauces to spice up your meats and sides.”
