Eileen (Neal) England

January 3, 1942 ~ March 8, 2023

Eileen England, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in Colchester Connecticut.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Malad City, Idaho on January 3, 1942 to Archie and Letha Tubbs Neal. She was a graduate of Malad City High School class of 1960.  Eileen moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she had a successful career, of more than 35 years as an X-ray Technologist.  It was in Utah where she met her husband of 48 years David Barclay England.  They were married July 13, 1968 and sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS temple in 1990.  Together they had two sons David and Samuel who remember her as a loving and caring Mother.

Eileen loved to read and always had many books around her.  She was an avid book collector and owned hundreds of rare and out of print romance novels. Eileen stashed her books under chairs, beds, bathroom sinks and everywhere else.  She could read several books simultaneously, and often stayed up all night reading. Eileen loved to travel and collected Native American art.

After the passing of her husband in 2016, she wanted to move to the East Coast to be closer to her family.  She enjoyed getting to know her grandchildren and their fun “tradition” of eating together every Thursday night which evolved into “Friday Eve with Gram Gram”.  Her spunky ways, and fun personality will surely be missed.

Eileen is survived by her sons David (Shauna) and Samuel.  Her grandchildren Zoey, Ben, Trey, Bryan, Sam, Elizabeth and Lauren and siblings Bardonna Zollinger, Bernon Neal, Dian Chivers, and Tim Neal.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Lamont Neal, John Neal, and Lowell Neal and her loving husband, David England.

Services was held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at Myers Mortuary 5865 S 1900 W, Roy Utah. Interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery, Malad, Idaho.

Rose (Leibow) Thielen

February 6, 1934 ~ March 9, 2023

Our beloved Bubbe passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, surrounded by family at her home. She was born on February 6, 1934, in the Bronx, NY to George and Bella (Katz) Leibow. On August 7, 1954, she was married to the love of her life Edwin Thielen, Jr. at Lowry AFB in Denver. Together they raised two children and celebrated 52 years of marriage before Ed passed away in 2006.

Known as Bubbe to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Rose was devoted to her family. Though she was under five feet tall, her personality could fill an entire room. She was funny and quirky, and loved to sit around the kitchen table talking about life, politics, and whatever she was watching on TV.

She volunteered at Lakeview Elementary School as a reading tutor, where she enjoyed getting to know the children, as well as the faculty and staff. She also volunteered for an adult literacy program. She enjoyed doing ceramics and was doing yoga in the 1980s, before it was cool.

Rose spent her time designing unique e-mail signatures, cuddling with her Siamese cat Miss Kitty, visiting with her family. She was a good listener and made everyone who knew her feel loved and valued. She was proud of her Jewish faith and was the spiritual heart of her family. We will miss her sparkling eyes, her mischievous smile, and her good heart.

She is survived by her children: Debra (Gary) Aplin of Roy and David (Diane) Thielen of Tooele; grandchildren: Aaron (Emily), Rebekah, Cristen, Adam (Theresa); and great-grandchildren: Michael, Oliver, Calie, Deven, Julia, Claire, and Paul. Also surviving is her brother Saul Leibow (Linda).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin Thielen, Jr., her brother Paul Leibow, and her great-granddaughter Eleanor Aplin.

Private funeral services were held Monday, March 13, 2023, followed by interment at the Roy City Cemetery.
